Once more, our people has shown that a bloodless revolution is possible to end a corrupt and morally bankrupt government. We did it again in EDSA.

Our struggle, however, did not end in that historic avenue. Much still has to be done. And I believe that the leaders we vote into office should play a significant part in the resolution of our country's deep-seated problems.

In this light, I would like to ask for your support in the coming May 14 elections. I am running as a Senator under the People Power Coalition.

I offer an unblemished track record of public service: 8 years in the Senate (1987-95), 6 years in the Lower House (1985-present), plus over 14 years of active opposition in the darkest years of Martial Law.

I also go by a consistent record of abiding dedication to the creed of nationalism. Let my votes in this regard speak for themselves – on the US military bases, on globalization, on other issues that affect our birthright as a sovereign nation and our rights and welfare as a people.

I know that my bid to go back to the Senate is an uphill climb as the elections in our country have degenerated into a popularity contest. But after People Power II, I would like to believe in the new beginnings. I would like to believe that our politics has turn a new leaf. I would like to believe in the resurgence of a new consciousness that would put greater premium on principle, integrity, honesty and nationalism in government.
